Help Us Build a Safe, Modern Shelter for Our Senior Horses

Our current three-sided shelter has protected our horses for many years, but time and weather have taken their toll. To keep our senior horses safe, warm, and comfortable in every season, we urgently need to restore the existing structure, bring electricity and water to the area, and build a new upgraded shelter designed for long-term, year-round use.
This is one of the most important projects we’ve taken on and we can’t do it without your support.
Why This Project Matters
Senior horses are especially vulnerable to harsh winters, summer heat, wind, and rain. A strong, reliable shelter is more than comfort, it is essential for their health and safety.
1
Our current three-sided structure needs major repairs
After years of weather exposure, the existing shelter requires:
-
Structural reinforcement
-
Repair of siding
-
Re-leveling for proper drainage
Keeping this shelter safe is critical for daily turnout and protection.
2
We currently have no electricity or water access at the shelter
To properly care for senior horses, we need:
-
Electricity for heated water buckets in winter, lighting, and fans in summer
-
Water access for filling troughs, cleaning, and providing hydration during turnout
Installing utilities will dramatically improve daily care and safety.
3
We are ready to build another NEW three-sided shelter
A second shelter will:
-
Provide additional safe space for our retired herd
-
Support turnout for multiple horses
-
Increase comfort for aging horses with mobility and medical needs
-
Ensure protection during extreme weather conditions
This new structure will mirror the functionality of the old one but new, sturdy, and built to last.
